About Us

Our Program

We have a small, but well-planned breeding program, which typically produces only one litter a year.  We breed for health, temperament, and natural working ability. The Dam for our litters is always a dog we own, that lives in our home.

Breeding Stock

We select the Sire for our litters based on his temperament, health history, versatility, pedigree and the track record of puppies he has sired. Both the Dam and Sire for our litters have been evaluated for joint, eye, heart, and other genetic diseases required or recommended by the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals – Canine Health Information Center.

Our Puppies

Our puppies are raised in our home. They are examined by a veterinarian to ensure they are healthy. We deworm our puppies starting at 3 weeks and vaccinate them based on the antibody titers of their mother. All our puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). They are microchipped and registered in the AKC Reunite Program.

We use the Avidog (https://www.avidog.com/) 16-week “97 Ways to Create Great Puppies” program as the foundation for training our puppies. From Day 3 through Day 16 we focus on Dr. Carmen Battaglia’s Early Neurological Stimulation and Avidog’s Early Scent Stimulation.  From Day 17 we start introducing our puppies to new objects, people, sounds and experiences. This is done gradually, safely and in a way that does not over-stress the puppies. Our puppies typically complete the first 10 weeks of the Program before going to their new homes. We give each new puppy owner the “97 Ways to Create Great Puppies” manual, walk through the modules we have completed and review the remaining modules that they should complete. We also work with the new owners together with their puppies, to practice the skills their puppies have already developed.

What Buyers Can Expect From Us

  • We use a written Sales Contract and Warranty to detail the terms of our sale and the commitments we make to our puppies and their owners after they move to their new homes.

  • We determine if we have a puppy that would be a good match for the prospective buyer. We use the Puppy Application to understand what the Buyer is looking for in terms of their family needs, preferences, lifestyle, home environment and experience with active, intelligent dogs. We use the Avidog Puppy Evaluation Test (APET) to identify the temperament and talents of each of our puppies. Putting these two sources together enables us to see if we have a good match.

  • We make a lifetime commitment regarding our puppies. We will continue to be available to answer questions and provide support and coaching to the new puppy owners for the lifetime of the puppy. If, for any reason, at any time, the Buyer can no longer retain possession of the puppy, we will take the puppy back, and place it in a new loving home, refunding as much of the original price as outlined in the puppy purchase contract.

What We Expect From Our Buyers

  • We expect our Buyers to ensure Labrador Retrievers are the right breed for them/their families. This includes reading and studying information about the Breed Standard and characteristics of Labrador Retrievers. This can be found on the Labrador Retriever Club site (https://thelabradorclub.com/about-the-breed/). The American Kennel Club site also has information on all breeds of dogs, puppies, training, nutrition, etc.,so the Buyer can determine if Labrador Retrievers are the best fit for them( https://www.akc.org ).

  • We believe Labradors are not the ideal pet for individuals/families who are over-scheduled, travel frequently without their pets and are too busy to add active, intelligent puppies to their households.

  • We expect our puppies to be a family priority and to live in the homes of their new owners. We expect our puppies to be given premium food, clean water, regular veterinary care including appropriate vaccines, and on-going training.

  • We expect our puppy buyers to pick up their puppies; we do not ship any puppies.  We expect the new owners to spend several hours with us to get to know their puppies, learn about them and the training they have already received, and prepare to continue the training for their puppies.
